meet Crystal. (@cwebbie)
a hurtful exchange with a high school teacher almost made her quit.
she proved them wrong.
Here is her story:
Her exact words in a southern, new Orleans accent was, “Crystal, you’re never going to amount to much of anything if you can’t understand Something this simple”…
It was a pre-calc w/trig class in the 11th grade… right when I was thinking about college & SATs. My sister dropped out of college and it was a huge insecurity and fear of mine. I honestly thought I shouldn’t go to school. My counselor, principal and parents had to intervene. I went on to graduate summa cum laude in 3 yrs from Elon. Then went on to Stanford & Johns Hopkins. I work today as a director of strategic communication & change mgmt at a global consulting firm. My portfolio is 4.5M. I have a team of 15 and have never used pre-calculus again. Oh, and I’m the youngest in my position by 14 years.
